Shimano 24 Poison Adrena Casting 1610M2 610 7-21g 2pc The Precision All-Rounder

The 2024 Shimano Poison Adrena 1610M2 is widely regarded as the most versatile all-round casting rod in the flagship JDM range. At Gerrys Fishing, we identify the 1610M2 as the perfect balance between power and finesse. The Medium (M) rating and 610 length make it an exceptional tool for a massive variety of lures, from medium-sized crankbaits and jerkbaits to Texas rigs and topwaters.

The 2 in the model name indicates a center-cut 2-piece design, providing high-end tournament performance with the added benefit of easy transport. Despite being a 2-piece rod, the Spiral X Core construction and Ultimate Blank Design (UBD) ensure the action is so seamless you would struggle to distinguish it from a one-piece blank.

Key Specifications

Core Performance Features

• Universal 7-21g Rating: This casting weight is the sweet spot for most freshwater predator fishing. Whether you are using a 10g jerkbait for perch or a 20g soft plastic for zander, the 1610M2 handles them with a crisp, reassuringly predictable action.

• Refined Sensitivity: The 2024 model features the latest Full Carbon Monocoque handle. By removing all vibration-absorbing materials like EVA or cork, the rod acts as a sounding board. This allows you to feel exactly what your lure is doingeven when fishing at the end of a long cast.

• Spiral X Core & UBD: To maintain such a lightweight profile (often weighing around 100g), Shimano uses Spiral X Core to provide the necessary strength. This prevents blank twist, resulting in hyper-accurate casting and more power when fighting fish in heavy current.

• Superior Portability: With a transport length of just 107cm, this is the ultimate high-performance rod for the mobile angler who uses public transport or has limited space in their vehicle, without sacrificing the elite Poison Adrena feel.

• Ergonomic Perfection: The CI4+ XT Reel Seat is designed to allow your hand to wrap naturally around the reel and the blank. This palming ability is crucial for maintaining sensitivity and comfort during 8-hour sessions.

Gerrys Pro Tip: The 1610M2 is our top recommendation for anglers who fish hard baits. The 610 length is short enough to jerk and twitch lures with the rod tip down without hitting the water or the boat, yet long enough to provide excellent hook-setting leverage at distance.
