Mitchell Traxx Lure Spinning Rod 702MH 7 10-42g 2pc

The Mitchell Traxx Lure Spinning Rod 702MH is a highly versatile and popular rod designed for the modern lure angler who needs a powerful and responsive tool for a wide range of fishing situations. Its specifications and design features are tailored to provide excellent lure feel and control at an affordable price point. The Spinning designation means it is built for use with spinning reels.

Design Philosophy

The core philosophy of the Traxx series is to deliver a rod that gives the angler a superior lure feel and control. This is achieved through a combination of a responsive blank, lightweight components, and an ergonomic design. The 7 length of this model is a key element, as it provides a perfect balance between casting distance and close-quarters control, making it a great all-arounder for both boat and bank fishing.

Rod Blank and Construction

• Blank Material: The rod is constructed from Strong HG-M Carbon. This is a high-quality, medium-modulus carbon material that is known for its durability, fast recovery, and excellent sensitivity. The blanks responsiveness allows the angler to feel the subtle vibrations of the lure working, as well as the most delicate of bites.
• Action: The rod has a Fast Action. This means the rod bends primarily in the upper third of the blank. This fast action provides two key benefits:
  • Sensitivity: The stiff backbone and sensitive tip allow the angler to feel the lures action and detect subtle bites.
  • Hook Setting Power: The fast action allows for quick, powerful hooksets, which is essential for penetrating the bony mouths of predators.
• Power: The rods power is rated as Medium-Heavy (MH). This rating, combined with the 10-42g lure weight, makes the rod highly versatile. It is ideal for casting a wide range of lures, from medium-sized jigs and spinners to crankbaits, swimbaits, and heavy soft plastics.
• Pieces: The rod is a 2-piece design. This is a standard and convenient configuration for a rod of this length, making it easy to transport and store without compromising the rods strength or action.

Components and Features

• Guides: The rod is equipped with Light Weight Anti-Tangle Stainless Steel Guides. These guides are designed to reduce the risk of frustrating line tangles, especially when using braided line, and to help achieve smooth, long-distance casts. Their lightweight nature also contributes to the rods overall sensitivity.
• Reel Seat: The rod features an Ergonomic Reel Seat. This is a standard spinning reel seat design that is comfortable and secure, holding the reel firmly in place.
• Handle: The handle is made of High Density EVA Grips. The EVA material provides a comfortable and secure grip, even when wet. The handles ergonomic design, often a split-grip, further reduces weight and improves the overall balance of the rod.
• Hook Keeper: The rod includes a convenient Hook Keeper, which is a small ring or clip near the handle for securing the lure when not in use, preventing the hook from snagging on clothing or other gear.
