PENN Slammer 460 Live Liner

The Penn Slammer 460 Live Liner is a compact, yet powerful spinning reel that brings the rugged dependability of the Slammer series to a more versatile size. It is a workhorse designed for anglers who primarily use bait and need the specialized functionality of a Live Liner or Baitrunner system. The 460 is an ideal choice for a variety of medium-duty saltwater and heavy-duty freshwater applications.

Key Design and Construction Features

• Live Liner Feature: This is the primary feature of this reel. It allows the angler to switch the reel into a secondary, free-spool mode with an adjustable lever on the back. When a fish takes the bait and runs, it feels minimal resistance, allowing it to move away naturally. A simple turn of the main handle instantly re-engages the powerful main drag for the fight. This system is essential for bait fishing, as it prevents a fish from dropping the bait due to immediate resistance. The adjustable Live Liner drag allows you to set the tension according to your bait and the conditions.
• Full Metal Body and Sideplate: The reel is built with a full metal body and sideplate, providing a rigid, unyielding frame. This construction ensures that the internal gears remain in perfect alignment, even under the stress of fighting a strong fish.
• Oversized HT-100 Carbon Drag System: The main drag system features Penns legendary HT-100 carbon fiber drag washers. These oversized washers provide a smooth and powerful drag output, with minimal heat buildup, ensuring consistent performance under prolonged stress. The sealed drag knob helps to protect the system from saltwater and debris.
• Machine-Cut Alloy Main Gear: The reels main gear is machine-cut from a durable alloy, providing strong, reliable, and smooth performance that will last for years of hard use.
• 5+1 Shielded Stainless Steel Ball Bearings: The 460 model utilizes a 5+1 shielded stainless steel ball bearing system. The bearings are shielded to resist corrosion from saltwater, contributing to the reels long-term smooth operation and reliability.
• Triple-Supported Oversized Stainless Steel Mainshaft: The main shaft is oversized and triple-supported. This provides uncompromising strength and alignment, which is crucial for a reel designed to handle the pressure of fighting hard-running fish.
