Rapala Precision Xtreme Mavrik SW 11cm | 16g: The Ultimate Saltwater Twitchbait

The Rapala Precision Xtreme Mavrik 110 SW is a high-performance jerkbait customized specifically to meet the demands of dedicated saltwater anglers.1 At Gerrys Fishing, we consider the Mavrik a technical essential for those who need a lure that can turn nearly 180 degrees with a single snap. At 11cm and 16g, it features a durable construction and is concepted to provide outstanding performance in the harshest marine environments.

Equipped with three corrosion-resistant VMC TI treble hooks, this lure is pure muscle, designed to withstand the power of specimen Bass and other large migratory fish species.

Engineering & Ballistic Precision

• Internal MaxCast System: The Mavrik is engineered with a built-in MaxCast system. This utilizes an added tungsten weight that shifts during the cast to provide accurate, ultra-long casts, even in windy conditions.

• High-Response Agility: This is a versatile twitchbait. With quick snaps, you can make the bait turn nearly 180 degrees, creating a frantic, erratic action that is bound to attract predators.

• Head-Down Suspended Posture: One of its most technical features is how it behaves when paused. The Mavrik mimics a wounded fish by hanging in a head-down suspended posture, a top-tier trigger for following predators.

• Saltwater-Grade Durability: The lure is finished with finely detailed saltwater colors and a durable construction that can withstand the brunt of repeated brutal attacks.

Tactical Applications & Strategy

The Precision Xtreme Mavrik is a precision tool for studying predators in the upper water column. The Gerrys team suggests:

• The Slow Walk Tactic: In clear water or when fish are wary, fish it slow with short twitches. This allows the bait to walk underwater with a natural swimming response that mimics an unsuspecting baitfish.

• Aggressive Reaction Strikes: When you see a distant hunt, use quick snaps of the rod tip. The 180-degree turns create a massive amount of flash and displacement, essential for triggering a reflex strike.

• The Suspended Trigger: Utilize the head-down posture by interspersing your retrieve with 3-5 second pauses.8 Because it is suspending, it stays in the strike zone longer, giving predators time to commit to the attack.

• Taming the Shoreline Wind: Use the tungsten weight of the MaxCast system to punch through onshore breezes. This aerodynamic stability is a real asset for reaching unexplored areas from the beach or exposed headlands.

Gerrys Verdict:

The Rapala Precision Xtreme Mavrik 110 SW (11cm/16g) is a high-value jerkbait that brings Xtreme agility to the saltwater scene. It solves the problem of casting light jerkbaits in the wind while providing a formidable suspended action that cannot be ignored
