Shimano Currentsniper XR Shore Jigging 9’6 70g JIG90g 2pc

Shimano Currentsniper XR Shore Jigging 96 | The High-Response JDM Precision Tool

At Gerrys Fishing, the Shimano Currentsniper XR 96 (MH Power) is a staff favorite for its exceptional balance of casting distance and technical lure control. Designed for the serious shore angler, this model is optimized for 90g metal jigs and 70g plugs. It sits in the Medium-Heavy power bracket, making it the perfect choice for targeting hard-fighting species like Bonito, large Seabass, Bluefish, and mid-sized Amberjack from rocky shores, piers, or beaches.

As part of Shimanos prestigious JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) lineup, the Currentsniper XR represents the pinnacle of shore jigging technology, offering a sharp feel that translates every movement of the angler into enticing lure action.

Elite JDM Blank Technologies

• Spiral X Core: Shimanos most advanced blank construction uses high-strength carbon tape in a unique triple-layer wrap. This technology significantly increases torsional and crushing rigidity, ensuring the rod doesnt twist during a massive cast, which maximizes distance and accuracy.

• Hi-Power X: The outer layer is reinforced with an X-pattern carbon wrap. This further eliminates blank twist and provides the sharpness needed for high-precision casting and stable lifting power during a fight.

• Nanopitch: A specialized manufacturing process that applies high, uniform pressure during the baking of the blank. This results in an incredibly consistent and circular structure, enhancing both the rods overall strength and its sensitivity to subtle bites.

• Screw Lock System: This high-performance joint system increases the strength of the two-piece connection, ensuring it feels like a seamless one-piece rod even when applying maximum pressure to a fish.

Professional Components for Saltwater

• Fuji K-Type Stainless Steel SiC Guides: These tangle-free guides are essential for high-speed casting. The Silicon Carbide (SiC) inserts are diamond-hard and super smooth, dissipating heat and protecting your PE braid during the blistering runs of pelagic fish.

• Fuji DPS Reel Seat with Double Locking Nut: To handle the vibrations and torque of shore jigging, this reel seat includes a double-nut system. Your reel will remain rock-solid and wont loosen, no matter how aggressively you work your jigs.

• Ergonomic EVA Grip: The high-density EVA handle is designed for comfort and maximum leverage. Even when wet or covered in salt spray, it provides a secure, non-slip grip for the under-arm tuck favored by shore jigging specialists.

Use Example: Precision Casting for Fast Pelagics

Imagine you are on a coastal breakwater. Small tuna or Bonito are busting the surface 80 meters away. You need to launch a 60g sinking stickbait or a 80g metal jig with total accuracy into the boil.

The Currentsniper XR 96 MH is the perfect weapon for this. The 96 length offers the leverage for extreme distance, while the Spiral X Core ensures the blank recovers instantly after the cast, keeping the trajectory flat and true. Once the lure hits the water, the moderate-fast action allows you to feel every kick of the lure. When a fish strikes, the rod transitions into a powerful, stable backbone that allows you to pump the fish toward the shore with total confidence.
